I liked the location of the hotel. Very close to a metro station so very convenient. The manager speaks English - but he is the only one - and is very friendly.
Really noisy if your room is on the street side. But the "luxury" one is fine Even the manager tells you to avoid this neighborhood at night. But I didn't feel less comfortable after sunset than in Paris or New York. Stop paranoia.
I love this hotel. This is the best hotel for couple backpack travellers in Mexico city. 24 hours hot shower, Wi-Fi is fast, clean rooms everyday and especially super friendly staffs. They help me everything what I asked. Thanks:) It's not near zocalo but you can take metro with 3 stops. It costs only for 3 pesos whereever you get off. big supermarket just near hotel and many taco shops near the hotel. I would definately recommend this hotel for backpack travellers and I also would comeback again :))
Very convinient - 2mins to metro station of 3 lines, only 4 stations away from old district. Staff & boss are so nice, though staffs do not speak much English.
My room has no windows, so air circulation was bad. Also it was on 2nd floor, which is close to a elevated highway, so very noise across the night.
This was the cheapest hotel I found in the city. I was nicely surprised by the hospitality and friendliness of the owner. Also, the room/bathroom was very clean and its location is central. Definitely would recommend.
Then staff were exceptionally friendly at Hotel La Selva. I was only stopping at the hotel to avoid an overnight stay at Mexico City Airport so I can't say much about the hotel. Don't expect luxury here, but if you're travelling on a budget this is a good place to stay. It's near the airport, it's pretty clean, it's got the basic amenities that most travellers need. All in all a good place to stay, made better by the friendly staff who were able to overlook my inability to speak any Spanish.
Very friendly and useful stuff, good location and price
Great location at the junction of 3 metro lines, close to a supermarket and places to eat. The manager Javier was extremely helpful with everything. Crisp white sheets and clean towels daily. The room was basic but adequate for my needs, even had free WIFI although the signal was too weak in my room to connect. Would recommend.
On weekends it got crowded and sometimes noisy with couples "by the hour", but I guess they need somewhere to go too. They didn't cause me a problem.
The sevice, the staff and the price of the rooms. Can't find anything cheaper and so good. Also includes Wi-Fi internet.
A little problem with the hot water, but they took care of it.
The staff is very nice, espeically Jaiver who is super kind, helpful and honest man. The room is clean. You can go to Metro station by just two minutes walk and only 3 stations can take you to Zocola. You can find a supermarket, resturant, as well as taste Tacos around the corner.
Hotel staff was perfect. They are helpful and kind. When i asked about a restaurant he came with me to a nearby restaurant and explained me the menu, because i don't know Spanish. Price is cheap for location. It is just next to subway.
I didn't feel safe in the room and it was really dirty. There was a dead bug in shower.
The staff were soo friendly with us.
The street noise overnight.
The price and staff were great. The carpet needs to be replaced in public areas for sure but the room was in great shape and the price was amazing. The staff walked us to the nearest restaurant vips and walked us home as they wanted to make sure we didn't get lost. We used this hotel the night before we caught our flight home. It was quiet and convenient to the airport about 10 minutes by cab. It is also really close to the subway line. I would use it again.
The carpet in public areas needed replacing and hallways are stark.
I like this hotel and the location is good, close to the metro station. The owner of the hotel, Javier, is so nice and helped me when I have any questions. I can feel the warm when I stayed there.
Some of the rooms are modern and very nice, comfortable, with private bathroom. Cable tv is a cool bonus. The new rooms are very clean. The hotel is very close to the metro which makes getting around the city very easy. The owner is very helpful and speaks very good English. The price is very good for the great quality of the rooms.
If you accidentally book into an older room like I did, you might want to change rooms to a newer one. But I was able to do this on the owner's recomendation with no fuss at all. The neighbourhood is a little run down and can be dark late at night. This might be concerning for female travellers. But I always felt safe despite it being dark. Taxi drivers got lost the few times I did catch one. So they don't seem to know the area and hotel well. So I often preferred just to jump on the metro.
One of the hotel staff spoke English, which was great for me. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The Wifi signal was not strong on the 2nd floor where I stayed. However, in the lobby area the signal was really strong. The hotel seemed very safe and the staff kept monitoring who was coming in and going out. I did make use of the lockers for my passport, though in hindsight, it was probably not needed. The hotel is very close to the metro which made transportation easy. There is also a big supermarket (commercial Mexicana) where you can get almost everything. There is only one family restaurant that appeared be upscale (vips) in the neighborhood. There are other local street shops.
Note that you get what you pay for. This is not the Ritz. This is ideal for budget-concious travellers who need a safe place to stay. The place is noisy as it's next to a major road. The bed and pillows are not that comfortable. The carpeting seems very worn out. The bath and toilet was functional, but seemed old. Be sure to find out which exit from the Metro leads to the hotel because if you get off the wrong exit on the metro, you will end up in a shady part of town. In conclusion- this place is great if you want a safe place at a low price and close to the metro.
